THE SPIRITS OF IOLANI PALACE

All that is known about people of, or associated with the palace in some way, you will find in so many resources. What I want to share with you here is what some of them I’ve interacted with are like as a person - as I experienced them to be. Certainly, some of you may read these experiences and view these to be a bit eccentric, and they are, but just keep an opened mind when you read these experiences I’ve had, as well as those of others. And remind yourself that being open-minded does not make you vulnerable to being influenced or to believe in something (or someone), because there are many influences out there in our world, still, 'you' have your own control of what you want to believe, or not believe. What an open mind can give you is more information by which to form your own understanding, from which you can navigate your own direction, as 'you' choose. A little food for thought before you begin reading the experiences posted in this section… 'Does the spiritual part of life solely consist of experiences with ghosts, haunting, and other paranormal activities?' I'll will tell you, 'that' is just the ground level to what we experience 'of' them. There’s a whole spiritual world of life out there that is sometimes just as dynamic as life here on the physical side. The profound difference between the two is, physical life is a temporary experience, whereas the spiritual, is everlasting. And as you come to learn about spirits, remember that no matter whom or what we are during our physical experience, we are all… people.

The idea of going to Iolani Palace was more out of curiosity than anything else - curious to see what spirits were there… particularly, the “Queen Liliuokalani”. Having spent many years with the spiritual, it was my educated guess that the soulfully straining experiences she endured during her physical experience here, made me suspect the likeliness that her spirit may very well be at the palace. But, always trying to practice open-mindedness, I went one day without expectations (as usual). Finally one day ‘I went’, entering the palace from the makai end (which is really the 'back' of the palace). Inside, I stood on the side of the staircase and saw a group people standing around in the main area fronting the staircase. Next thing I knew, coming down the stairs to my left, was the queen. Amazed, I whispered to myself, “Ho sh*t... she IS here.” There were three things about her that I noticed right away was her gracefulness… the way she walked and how she carries herself. The second was the look on her face that was expressionless, and third was the heaviness of her energies, quite likely from the suffering and humiliation she endured during her physical experience as Hawaii's queen. Definitely not a happy spirit. I remember hoping that I’d one day be able to help her. Somehow. When she reached the landing, she briefly acknowledged the group then turned to me, and I gladly stepped out of my 'hiding place' to meet her, thinking how gracious of her to even give me the time of day. She took my hand in hers and we had a brief moment of ‘hellos’ and 'how are you doings'. Like many other spirits, she could tell that I was from ‘this side’ and I suppose she must have found that intriguing because since then, whenever I’d go there, she comes out and we spend a lot of time together. Same time, there seemed to be a common ground or connection between us from that very moment, like we already knew each other because there was no ‘introduction’ or ‘getting to know you’ type phase, we just ‘carried on’ and enjoyed being each other. That first visit was years ago, and I continued visiting but only once in a long while, visiting more often as my time permits, particularly within the past year or so. She and I have gotten quite close, and I caught myself calling her "aunty" (or “aunty Lili”) several time which felt so natural, like a ‘Hawaiian style’ when you address someone older you cherish. She obviously likes me calling her that, so that’s what I call her.Observing the people that serve her … what she says, they do, and right away. I've seen times when she doesn’t even speak, but sweeps her arm, motion her hand, or she'll just look at them, and they’ll know what to do or what she wants. Her intensity is seen as well as felt, and at times, her “mana” is felt too. She's hard-headed at times, but willing to hear her people and those she trusts and are close to her kinda thing. On the flip side, she needs to have her own quiet and alone time to express herself creatively through various arts that flows with her mood. She is not a talkative person, that's her nature, and though she goes through periods of gloom and heavy heartedness, sometimes some of that lifts, and I find her pretty darn funny. There were incidents though, that weren’t so funny.Remember once upon a time in the news there was front page news about some turbulence going on at the palace where people from the Kingdom of Hawaii were trying to force their way into the palace and sit on the thrones? I was curious to know if she was aware of that, and if she was, how she felt about that. So I began telling her how in the news there was a commotion going on here at the palace, and "there was a king and a queen..." and wow, right then and there, she literally snapped and very enraged (thank goodness, not at me) whacked her own chest with her hand and said, “I’M THE QUEEN!!” It was clearly obvious that she already knew about that and was very upset, at least about the queen part, and I wasn’t about to get her to talk about it some more or ask any questions. No way. Here’s another one. You know that story here in this website, “The Angry Hawaiian Man” (under ‘Haunted Places’)? Yep, that little story is mine. It was a little ‘debut’ test run to see what kind of reaction that story would get, which actually generated quite a bit of interest, so I’ll ‘fill in the blanks’ with what happened.Well, soon after arriving there one night, I followed her to the mauka end of the palace, and as soon as we got there, all of a sudden we heard a man yelling, freezing us in our tracks, wide-eyed. I couldn’t even imagine who in the world would be yelling violently like that at the palace, and let me tell you, that guy was pissed. At what, I couldn’t even imagine that either! Following the direction of his voice that was on the throne room side of the palace, I saw a Hawaiian man with long wavy hair, wearing only a whitish malo, looking at the palace as he walked toward the makai end, and he yelled and screamed all the way, letting his arms exhibit how pissed off he was. It was a pretty scary scene. I turned to look at aunty and was thrown to see the look of fear on her face, something I never expected to see. She was definitely scared. That very next moment, I realized that the guy was nearing the opposite end of the palace and by that time the initial shock had left me, especially after seeing how scared she was. Men were already rushing outside. Knowing that the angry Hawaiian man was nearing the makai end, I quickly told her, “I’ll be back,” then headed outside to go see (only because incase something went wrong I would call for ‘spiritual back up’ to make sure she was safe) but she grabbed my arm and said, "No! Stay here!" In a reassuring tone, I told her, "No, trust me. I have to go see," then she let go and I ran outside. I stood on the top landing of the stairs and I saw that angry Hawaiian man on the ground level to the left of the stairs, still yelling, while a man in a suit was half-way down the bottom half of the stairs addressing that angry person to leave. There were several men that were mainly standing near the door with a few others dispersed close by. Then behind me, I could hear heavy, but paced footsteps coming, and out the door came David Kalakaua. He arrived on the right of me and took control of the situation and motioned his arm while he politely but sternly ordered that angry man to leave. Much to my amazement, as soon as Kalakaua spoke, the angry Hawaiian instantly silenced himself and quietly left without further incident. I couldn't believe it. From one screaming man making a spectacle of himself, he suddenly became a quiet fool that slipped away in shame. You had to have been there to see and feel the effect of something like that to be amazed. ‘Uncle David’ (yep, him too). He had really let the air out of that windbag, and I felt proud of him for taking control of the situation like that, and with a classy gentleman type of conduct. Well, the show was then over and Kalakaua told me, "Let's go back inside", and that was that. Certainly one experience I'll never forget. Inside, I didn't ask aunty what all that huff was about - why he was so upset - because when things calmed, I realized that when I first saw him walking outside, it felt to me that he was someone that was really upset with something she did (or didn't do) as their queen, and I didn't want to make her re-live any despair, so I just dropped it and made sure she was alright, and she was alright, and relieved too, as I think we all were. David Kalakaua. Pretty cool guy. Later, reflecting upon that incident, I realized that I was pretty lucky to see him taking action in an alarming situation against his sister like that, even though it was on the ‘spiritual level’, because as this new section of this websitedevelops, you will come to learn that what happens on this side, sometimes take place on 'their side too. The throne room (or ballroom), is one of the rooms she really likes. More than half the time when arrive, she comes out of that room, then we go inside and sit by one of the windows – her back is usually always facing the window – and I’m on her left. One day when I got there, she was doing something in there, and I noticed above one of the doors, was a triangular shaped molding that was outlined with a maile lei. (Later looking online to verify what I saw, it was actually above one of the larger center mirrors in the throne room and not above a doorway.) Looking up at it, I asked her, “What's that for?” She said something, along with a word, “huna” which felt like it was to do with some ‘secret’. Not her secret though. There were preparing for some type of event, meeting, or something where people were going to come, and she was helping. First, I thought it might be a ‘freemasons’ meeting that was gonna be held in the throne room. See, if you look good at the pictures below, there’s a mirror between each door in the throne room, and above each door is a half moon shape, and above each mirror is a triangle shape – all Masonic symbols. And the freemasons have a lot to do with Iolani Palace, which I also later learned that freemason meetings were held inside the throne room! Secondly, a bunch of them were all freemasons, including David Kalakaua. Mentioning ‘the freemasons’ to her, she made me laugh because she gave that eye-roll and said, “Oh, the MEN’S club”. (Later on, I’ll tell you of some experiences I’ve had at the Masonic Temple too.)
