Spirit Guides - 2

When I was still in the Navy, I lived in a military housing area on Wheeler Army Air Base in Wahiawa and had gone through a particularly painful divorce in late 1994. In early November 1996, I had caught "The Bus" in Wahiawa to go to the Pearl Ridge Mall. The bus was crowded with people going down to Pearl Harbor for the remembrance day of the Japanese attack on Oahu. The only seat left was next to me. In Mililani, the bus picked up a nice looking, somewhat heavyset "Hawaiian" woman wearing a pretty, yellow muumuu and a straw hat with wild flowers stuck in the hatband. She sat next to me and immediately struck up a conversation. Being somewhat shy, but kind, I listened to what she had to say, but did not talk much. The thing that struck me about her the most was her brilliant eyes and a sense of peace that surrounded her. She told me her name was "Mama Loa" but her birth name was Leilani. She said she used to be an entertainer in "old Hawaii" (???) She then asked me for my left hand. Laying two fingers on my palm, she began to describe me. Because of my shyness, I don't remember much of what she said, but she told me about the divorce I had just gone through and said I "lead with my heart, not my head". The funny thing is, the whole time she was talking to me, the sounds of conversation on the bus, even the people themselves kind of faded into the background in a sort of soft-focus. It was like Leilani and I were there, but not quite. (I know this sounds crazy, but every bit of this actually happened.) She then told me about this woman I would soon meet who would be my soul mate. Now, I've got to tell you, at this point, even though what she was telling me sounded wonderful, I didn't really believe her. I thought she was a sweet, well-meaning woman, but that she might not have been "all there". She started describing this woman and then suddenly stopped and started laughing, saying "...and she's SHORT!" (I'm 6'4") Soon her stop came up. She told me to remember all she had told me, especially her name, and then taking my face gently in her hands she kissed me once on both cheeks to "balance me out" (???). She then stepped off the bus with about four other people. The whole thing was just so fantastic and strange, that I immediately stood up so I could get another good look at her as the bus pulled away. The other 4 people were there, but she was nowhere to be seen! There were no stores or obstructions around the bus stop for her to step into or behind, and with her size, yellow muumuu, and wild flower hat she would be impossible to miss. I stood there searching for her the entire time the bus pulled away and started down the street. I did not spot her nor have I seen her since. The funny thing is, just 3 months later, at the retirement party of a mutual friend, I met a wonderful woman named Sharon. We were married in 1997 and have had the most wonderful, fulfilling, loving relationship a couple could ever hope for. At the time we met, she was living in Mililani (where Leilani first boarded the bus) and...she's 5'1"!! Incredible coincidence? Maybe. However, I have been unable to find anything on a mama Loa/Leilani anywhere. (By Bill F.)
