There are one or two holes in particular that golfing friends of mine tell me that if your ball (the reference is that this spirit likes to play with balls and it is also not a friendly spirit) goes into the bushes, just forget about it! (This statement was made from several groups of golfers who do not have any ties between them.) Kaneohe Marine Corps Base, located on the windward of Oahu was attacked from the windward side of the island by the warriors from the other islands. When the warriors were mortally wounded, they would be carried to the bluffs of KMCB, so they could spend their last hours watching the ocean waves (I'm not sure that it was the waves, or it was the fact that they wanted to be buried close to the sea.) (By Rod) When I was a student at the UH, my early spirit's experiences happened while studying alone at Hamilton Library. You can sense that there are sprits walking all around you, elevators go up and down without anyone at the controls, doors open and close without anyone around, there were many gusts of wind - very odd in an enclosed library - and papers flying of desks. Some spirits were playful, but there also were some angry ones. During the floods at UH, we helped with the clean-up, and found out that the Manoa stream's original path went through the library, and they rerouted it so that they could make better use of the campus. It is theorized by paranormal researchers that bodies of water is a "gateway" that also gives spirits energies to manifest. (By R.N.) University of Hawaii's Hamilton Library Over decades, there has been a lot of people that get-together for a night out to "ghost hunt" for a bit of spooky fun. Here in Hawaii, there are certainly a lot of haunted places to "seek ghosts, and Pearl City High School is just one of such places. Pearl City High School's haunted activities range from elevator doors operating on their own, garbage cans suddenly toppling over, doors slamming, screams, and a ghostly woman carrying a baby, just to name a few. And while many of the ghostly activities there can be assumed to be Hawaiian spirits from ancient Hawaii, there is another bit of information that may stand as the source for some...suicides committed at Pearl City High School. (By Anonymous) Acid Hill On the top of Poola Street past Kalani High School heading east there is a level landing before a gated homes area. The story goes, if you park your car there (facing the ocean), let go of the brakes and put your car in neutral, the car will start to move foward. There is supposed to be a heiau up there somewhere and it is speculated that the spirits of ancient Hawaiians are pushing the car. In any case, we tried it and sure enough it works! (By Karen)The mystery of “Acid Hill” is really not much of a mystery, but what is known as a place that appears to be of level ground but an optical illusion that has a mere slant, causing any car parked in neutral with the breaks released to natural start rolling forward. Wahiawa's "Green Lady" I've lived in Wahiawa all my life (51 years), and for many years there's the story of a green, scaly, stinky lady that roams the district of Wahiawa, horrifying those that see her. "Suspicious of this wild story, I’ve asked several Wahiawa old-timers who told me that the story of the “green lady” was made up to discourage kids from playing at the lake, but that doesn’t explain why she’s seen anywhere else. Maybe to discourage kids/people who are in places they shouldn't be, or wild imaginations?" (By TC) *There is also a tale of a "green lady" in the Waimalu valley area. Everyone knows about the famed story about a young couple whose car stalled under a tree; boyfriend goes out to get help, girlfriend stays back in the car and falls asleep, only to be awakened by a police officer the next morning, finding her boyfriend hanging from the tree right above the car. But where exactly is "the" Morgan's corner? So far there are two such places; one on Nuuanu Pali Road where the Nuuanu stream flows, and the other on the Old Pali Drive on the Windward side. While this story may fascinate, it appears the story of Morgan's Corner is nothing but a fictious tale that mirrors the same tale that runs across many states. And as far as Hawaii's "Morgan's Corner" goes, maybe encounters experienced at these various Morgan's Corners should be given credit where credit is due. Perhaps the spirits of ancient Hawaii?
